How to format a document with talk2format
Working with a PDF? See the online PDF editor guide for text revision, layout changes, and saving an updated PDF.
- Upload a PDF, DOCX, or PPTX. Open the workspace or choose a file on the homepage. For PDFs, start with a file containing selectable text. Review the reconstructed pages and any import diagnostics.
- Select what you want to edit. Choose a text block, a document group, or a page. Use the toolbar for direct changes to font, size, spacing, alignment, and page layout.
- Describe the formatting you want. For example: “Center the title,” “Increase the paragraph spacing,” or “Arrange these authors in three rows.” Keep the request specific to your selection.
- Review the proposed result. Compare the preview with the current document. Apply the result when it looks right, discard it otherwise, and use undo/redo to revisit accepted edits.
- Inspect and export. Check every page for layout and content issues. Sign in with Google for official downloads, then use the output menu to export a PDF or another available package.

Questions and answers
What is talk2format?
talk2format, also known as talkformat, is an online PDF editor and AI document formatting tool that also supports Word (DOCX) and PowerPoint (PPTX) files. Revise text and adjust typography, spacing, and layout in your browser. Describe a change, review the proposed result, and export an updated PDF.
Which files can I upload?
You can upload PDF, DOCX, and PPTX files. PDFs with selectable text work best. Scanned PDFs need OCR before import; talk2format does not currently provide scanned-document OCR. Legacy DOC files, macro-enabled documents, and direct TEX or Markdown imports are not supported.
What can I change with AI document formatting?
You can revise text and request changes to typography, spacing, alignment, headings, and document groups. For example, select a heading and ask to replace its text, or select an author group and ask to arrange the authors in three rows. Review the proposed changes and the document preview, then apply or discard the result. Manual controls and undo/redo are also available.
Can I export the edited document?
You can print or save a PDF and download supported output packages from the workspace. Google sign-in is required for official downloads. Editable Word or PowerPoint round-trip export is not currently supported; check the available formats in the output menu.
Is talk2format free?
Manual editing is free. First-time document parsing and AI-assisted work use prepaid credits. Credit packs are one-time purchases, with no subscription; applicable taxes are shown at checkout. Check the Pricing menu for current packs and your workspace for your balance.
How does talk2format handle my documents?
Document parsing and editing happen in your browser. Original DOCX and PDF bytes are not sent to the model provider. AI requests send your prompt and bounded document content needed for the selected task. Reconstructed document data may be cached locally and in encrypted server storage. See the Privacy Policy for account, analytics, payment, and retention details.
Will the original layout always be preserved exactly?
Review each reconstruction before exporting. Fonts, complex tables, equations, floating objects, and source-file structure can affect fidelity. The workspace provides previews and reconstruction diagnostics so you can inspect the result; exact layout fidelity is not guaranteed for every document.
